GM and Amazon offer OnStar® Guardian Emergency Service at Home

OnStar® is famous for offering on-the-go assistance to drivers in need. Now, General Motors is teaming up with Amazon to offer the new OnStar® Guardian skill for Alexa, so you can enjoy that same peace of mind when you’re at home.

OnStar Emergency-Certified Advisor

With OnStar® Guardian, you can simply say “Alexa, call for help,” to contact an OnStar Emergency-Certified Advisor. They can lend assistance during crises including fires, health emergencies, and home invasions.

Pam Fletcher, the vice president of GM Global Innovation, stated, “This is another great example of how we’re expanding the safety and security of OnStar® beyond the vehicle to help more people, which demonstrates GM’s commitment to its growth strategy and innovating its software enabled services.”

Giving Families Greater Peace Of Mind

“This hands-free Alexa skill makes it easy for customers to get help from OnStar’s Emergency-Certified Advisors when they need it,” concurred Beatrice Geoffrin, director of Amazon Alexa services. “We hope this feature helps give families greater peace of mind throughout their day-to-day lives at home.”

Initially, OnStar® Guardian will only be available to select OnStar® members. GM plans to offer the service more broadly by early 2022. Ultimately, the automaker is working towards making OnStar® Guardian available to both GM and non-GM drivers.
