The durability of carbon fiber is hard to beat. Not only is it amazingly strong and light, but it can be formed into almost any shape imaginable. These features make it one of the most versatile and desirable materials today. GMC recently announced that it will start producing special-edition versions of the Sierra called the GMC CarbonPro™ starting in early June.
The package will be available on the Sierra Denali 1500 and
the Sierra AT4 1500. It will include a CarbonPro bed designed with a unique
carbon fiber composition that delivers best-in-class resistance to dents,
scratches, and corrosion.
“CarbonProis made of the same raw material found in seven-figure super cars and even aerospace applications,” said Duncan Aldred, vice president, Global GMC. “Coupled with offering the world’s first six-function MultiPro tailgate, the 2019 Sierra packs a one-two hauling punch for whatever the situation demands.”
Along with its impeccable durability, the CarbonPro bed will
weight 25-percent less than a traditional steel bed, which equates to about 60
pounds. It also eliminates the need for a bed liner, saving even more weight.
Because of its thin construction, it increases the already class-leading cargo
volume of the Sierra’s bed by 1 cubic foot.
This innovative bed comes with two additional tie-downs in
addition to the 12 standard tie-downs found on the steel beds. It also comes
with indentations in the bed to help keep certain cargo more secure.

Janet Ries, vice president of marketing at Carhartt, said, “This
truck represents a true collaboration of our brands coming together to create a
durable, purpose-built truck for people who not only work hard on the jobsite,
but also live a rugged lifestyle.”
Chevrolet and Carhartt initially worked on the 2017
Silverado 2500HD Carhartt concept together, which they showcased at the 2016
SEMA Show. The concept truck was so popular that they decided to develop the
2021 Silverado HD Carhartt Special Edition, which is based on the Silverado
2500 LTZ crew cab.
Inside the truck, there’s a Carhartt-themed interior with
leather-appointed seats that have a unique stitch design along with all-weather
floor liners that have the Carhartt badge.
The truck features the Z71 Off-Road Package that has Hill
Descent Control and skid plates. The exterior comes in the Mosaic Black
Metallic color with Carhartt gold pinstripe details. It also has a soft rollup
tonneau cover and 20-inch wheels with All Terrain tires.
