2018 and Newer GM Vehicles Get New Maps+ Navigation App

2021 Chevy Suburban Interior | Bellefontaine, OH

General Motors has announced that it is offering an all-new navigation app for 2018 and newer Chevy, Buick, and GMC models. Whether or not these models originally came with navigation capabilities, you can still download the Maps+ app to their infotainment systems in order to more easily find your way around Ohio and beyond.

What You Need To Know

The brand-new app is available as long as you drive one of the aforementioned GM vehicles and have an OnStar® Connected Services subscription. It was developed in partnership with Mapbox, which is a company that handles connectivity and navigation products.

What It Does

Maps+ has cloud-based connectivity, which allows it to receive daily over-the-air updates to ensure your maps are up-to-date. Using real-time traffic information, the app can help you avoid congested traffic jams on your way home and even find a nearby gas station when your tank is precariously close to empty. The app even notifies you about speed limit changes and upcoming road hazards.

How To Utilize Maps+

To utilize Maps+, you can simply type in your destination as well as any stops you want to make along the way. Predictive keyboard entry and shortcuts make it easy to search for a point of interest. Voice control is available for added convenience.

If you’re interested in driving a new or used vehicle with Maps+ and other modern tech, schedule a visit to Steve Austin’s Auto Group in Bellefontaine, Ohio, to check out the models on our lot.

Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay® Capabilities Coming to GM Models

General Motors has announced that many of its 2021 models are receiving wireless Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay® capabilities. Vehicles with these capabilities will make it more convenient for you and your family to enjoy smartphone connectivity.

Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ enable you to connect your phone to your vehicle’s touch screen and utilize your favorite smartphone features on the go. As such, you can send and receive messages, listen to your playlists and access different apps.

With wireless integration in 2021 GM models, you can use all these features by taking advantage of Bluetooth® technology instead of plugging your phone into a USB cable. In the 2021 Chevrolet Trailblazer, you can have wireless smartphone connectivity by simply opting for the available Technology Package.

Other 2021 vehicles that will offer wireless Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay® capabilities include the Chevrolet Suburban and Tahoe. In addition, the new GMC Yukon and Yukon XL as well as the Buick Encore GX will have these impressive capabilities available.

We at Steve Austin’s Auto Group are excited to add 2021 Chevrolet, GMC and Buick models to our dealership located in Bellefontaine, Ohio. Contact us if you’d like to learn more about these new models and the innovative technologies that they will offer.
