How to Keep Your Car Cool When Parked

Few things are as unpleasant as sitting in a car that’s been baking in the summer sun for hours. Luckily, there are a few simple steps you can take to keep your car cool, no matter how intense the heat is.

Use a visor or sunshade

This is an oldie but a goodie. A simple sunshade or visor placed over your windshield will work wonders to keep your car cool. For additional heat protection, lay a sunshade in your rear window.

Drape a towel over your steering wheel

Leave a hand towel over your steering wheel when it’s parked. This little trick should help to keep the temp down so you don’t have to touch a scalding-hot steering wheel.

Park in the shade

If you can snag a spot under a tree or behind a building, do so. Keeping your car out of direct sunlight is the best way to keep it cool.

Keep your windows open

Leaving your windows open just a crack can enhance ventilation and drastically cool down your car. Just make sure that a hand can’t fit in so you don’t make it easier for car thieves.
